We're back! Happy Fall!

Wow. Let's just pretend that I didn't take a FOUR MONTH hiatus from blogging, ok? Great! Thanks!

Before, I wanted to keep this a blog primarily about homeschooling and doing crafts and cooking with your kids and how to fit that into learning.  I think I kind of burned myself out with that. There were many times I wanted to get on and type away about something that was weighing on my heart. Or share some kind of encouragement that I had received...or just talk.  But then I would think, "This is a homeschooling blog, Julia. You can't just start posting about random things..." etc, etc, etc.

So, I am going to make some changes, I do believe! Yes, we will still have plenty of crafts and recipes to share! But I'll also share about....life! I guess we'll kind of just morph into a mommy blog of sorts. A place where I can share about my sweet kids...things they say that make me think...things we do...hardships we have...school stuff...recipes...and on and on and on! I'm excited, and hope you all will stick with me!

Enough about me and my plans! Do you know what day it is?!?!

It's the day after the first day of FALL!!!!!!! If you follow me on Instagram, you are well aware of my obsession with all things fall/autumn. (Some say fall...some say autumn...I say both! Ha!) And, you may also remember from last year, this is the start of the Reed Family's most favorite time of the year! From The first day of fall through Christmas, we are in our element! We're high on coziness, ya know! We, all of us, like to cozy in with hot chocolate, tea, blankets, books, and snuggles. So bring on the boots and scarves and crisp weather!

I also wanted to share an easy recipe with you. The kids and I made pumpkin cookies last week with just two ingredients! A can of pumpkin puree and a box of cake mix. I've seen this recipe floating around for a bit but was very skeptical of it. After seeing it again for the millionth time I thought, we might as well try it out! So, here it is!!

Two Ingredient Pumpkin Cookies

1 can of pumpkin puree
1 box of cake mix ( we use Trader Joe's brand Vanilla Cake and Baking mix...it has less of the nasties in it)
cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice to taste (I don't really count these as ingredients)

Preheat the oven to 350*. Mix pumpkin and cake mix and spices together until smooth. Plop by tablespoonfuls onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 12-14 minutes. Let cool for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

We added in some semi sweet chocolate chips to the dough. Then, when they were completely cool we frosted them with cream cheese frosting. There is a recipe for that HERE on Emma's Banana Cake recipe from last year. :)

These should probably be called 'cakies'. They have a very cakey consistency. So, if that's not your thing, then I wouldn't recommend these. I'm usually not a fan of cakey cookies, but with the addition of the cream cheese frosting, I really enjoyed these! After all was said and done, these turned out to be about 7 ingredient cookies....with the frosting and chocolate chips included. Still, not bad!

I hope your first week of fall is a wonderful one! Blessings :)
